Discovery
Previous Iteration Analysis
Researched the previous banner designs that were created for RGA Network meetings.
Took special note of the colors that were featured on the logo design, and the banner design, as inspiration for the colors I would use on the final design.
Competitive Analysis
Researched retractable banner designs to gain inspiration for possible alternatives to the word cloud design, to provide as an option.
Researched word cloud art, focusing on the placement and sizing of the words, and how they are utilized in the designs.
Design
Early Sketches
Created 3 rough sketches in Photoshop on an iPad based on the research and incorporated the elements from the previous banner designs.
Initial Design Colors
Created 2 variations of higher fidelity icon designs based on the initial sketches that best represent the brand.
The designs in the first iteration ended up being heavily changed from the original concepts in the rough sketches, in order to simplify the designs, to make them more readable.
Iterate
First Reiteration
The client insisted on adding more words to the word cloud design. Kept one of the alternative designs from the previous iteration, but returned to using the same word cloud design used in previous banners, as the client wanted the words to be “mixed up”.
Made alternate color designs for the text and background to provide variations that the client could choose.
Second Reiteration
The client decided that the designs should be entirely black and white, and that the word cloud must be incorporated into the design.
The client also provided a list of words that were to be used in the word cloud.
Created three more variations of the word cloud, with different designs for the banner’s exterior.
Final Iterations
Final Iterations
The ordering of the words was changed, so that any of the phrases with “RGA” in it would be more spread out.
Words in word cloud were moved around to make them more properly spaced.
